Mission
The mission of the Centre for Mathematical Biology is research in the field of mathematical biology, teaching of this field to students of the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, spread of information about mathematical biology among biologists, mathematicians and public, collaboration with similarly oriented groups in the Czech Republic as well as abroad, but also an effort to establish contacts with purely biological institutions the research or practical questions of which are often possible to approach also from a mathematical perspective, by means of mathematical models. We also give talks on mathematical biology on high schools and other universities.

Research
The Center research focuses on mathematical ecology, epidemiology, and evolutionary biology. In particular, we strive to integrate models at behavioral, population, and evolutionary time scales, and to develop new methodologies for such integration. Although our focus is on small modules consisting of a few populations we are also interested in implications of our methods to large interaction networks.

Teaching
One of the goals of the Center is to educate students in various applications of mathematics in biology. We teach several course (e.g., evolutionary game theory, mathematical population ecology, mathematical epidemiology etc.) in mathematical biology at Faculty of Science.
We offer lectures for high school students as well as topics for research. For university students we offer topics in mathematical biology at bachelor, master, and PhD level.
